Qu'y a-t-il dans un kit Punch Needle ? Tout ce qu'il faut savoir avant d'acheter

What's Inside a Punch Needle Kit? Everything You Need to Know Before Buying

Just discovered Punch Needle and already want to try it?

You came across a beautiful photo on Instagram: a soft, textured piece with flowers or an adorable little cat. The caption said "made at home in a weekend". And your first thought was: "I want to do that. But where do I even start?"

The answer is simple: with the right kit. But what exactly should be inside? And how do you avoid a disappointing purchase?

We'll tell you everything, honestly and without the marketing fluff.

What is a Punch Needle kit and why do you need one?

Punch Needle is an embroidery technique using a special hollow needle. You simply push the yarn through the fabric, stitch by stitch, and gradually a soft, fluffy, dimensional pattern appears.

Sounds simple? It is. But only if you have the right materials in the right kit.

That's exactly why all-in-one kits exist: so you don't have to spend hours searching for a compatible needle, the right fabric, and yarn in the correct thickness. Everything is already selected and tested for you.

What a good kit should contain and what's inside ours

🖼️ 1. A wooden frame with pre-stretched canvas

This is the foundation of everything. Budget kits often include just a piece of fabric that you have to stretch yourself somewhere. Inconvenient, and it directly affects the final result.

In Tonia Art kits, the frame is already assembled by hand, with the canvas stretched evenly and neatly. You can start stitching right after opening the box.

Canvas material: 100% cotton. This matters because synthetic fabric doesn't hold the yarn as well.

✏️ 2. The pattern transferred onto the canvas

Another area where cheap kits cut corners: they include just a paper template and leave the tracing to you.

With us, every design is transferred directly onto the canvas with clear outlines, either by hand or printed, depending on the complexity of the pattern. You can see exactly what to stitch and where. No guessing, no tracing yourself.

🧶 3. Yarn matched to the design

Finding yarn in the right thickness, the right shade, and sufficient quantity is a real challenge when you have to do it yourself.

In our kits, the yarn is already chosen to match the specific design. To know which colour goes in which area, the kit includes a reference photo of the finished embroidered piece. You compare and stitch.

The yarn material varies by design: some kits contain acrylic, others wool or a wool blend. Each material is deliberately chosen for the specific pattern to achieve the best possible result.

🪡 4. A Punch Needle needle

Not every needle works for this technique. You need a special hollow needle through which the yarn is threaded.

The Tonia Art kits include a simple, fixed needle that is perfect for beginners. It is not adjustable, and that is actually an advantage: fewer questions, no fiddling around, just pick it up and start. If you already have experience and your own needle, you are welcome to use that too.

📖 5. A step-by-step guide

The kit comes with a clear guide showing how to thread the needle and how to stitch correctly. Nothing unnecessary, just what you need to get started right away. For a first attempt, it is more than enough, and after that your hands remember the motion on their own.

📦 6. Beautiful packaging

Especially important if you are buying the kit as a gift.

Tonia Art kits arrive in a carefully designed box. No extra wrapping needed, it already looks like a proper gift.

What is NOT included and why that's perfectly fine

Some people ask: "Do I need glue to fix the yarn?"

If you are making a wall piece, no. The yarn holds securely in the canvas and will not fall out. Glue is only useful if you want to turn your piece into a rug, but that is a whole different story 😊

Scissors are something almost everyone has at home, so we leave those out too.

How long does a kit take to complete?

It depends on the size and your pace. On average:

  • Small design: 3 to 5 hours (doable in a weekend)
  • Medium design: 8 to 12 hours (a week of evening sessions)
  • Large design: 15 to 20 hours

Most of our customers say the same thing: "You start and you just can't stop." It's exactly the kind of hobby where time flies without you noticing.
